You probably have your best option already which is to watch them on you computer. If your TV is not HD ready, then it doesn't matter what the feed is, you will not get the HD resolution.

By HDTV, I'm assuming that you have some sort of Tivo-like device that you have the files saved to, such as AVI or DIVX files.

Anyways, to hook up your monitor to your PC laptop, take the VGA/DVI cord coming out of the monitor and plug it into your laptop's port. (You may need to get an adapter to switch from VGA to DVI. If you have an Apple laptop, you either have miniDVI or DVI.)

For your PC:
Go to your desktop, right click and click 'Properties' There is a tab there that enables your secondary monitor. Click the checkbox that says "Extend my desktop to this monitor" then click OK at the bottom.

For your Apple:
Go to Apple up in the left corner, click on System Preferences. Then click displays, and from this screen, you can detect displays attached to the laptop.

Hope this helps!

not likely you will be able to do that if your laptop and monitor are not HD ready and do not have hdmi or the composite cable hookups.
