The picture on this monitor is absolutely beautiful, as is the monitor itself.

PROS:

- PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION, stand included, is sturdy enough that I don’t have to worry about knocking the monitor over or breaking it. TILTING the monitor is efforless, and it rotates up and down enough that I don’t have to worry about my seat height, i.e., if I sit high and need to make the monitor face up to face me, it is easily done.
- I don’t do photography work, so I don’t worry about calibration and so on, but the COLORS are vivid and clear. It has several convenient color modes, including a “warm” one, which I use in the evening to relax my eyes before bed.
- The picture is very sharp. This is because such a high resolution is packed into a 21.5 inch screen. The PIXEL PITCH is as good as you will get in this generation’s monitors that are in a usable size.
- The VIEWING ANGLE is absolutely amazing.
- Has a HDMI port for extra devices!

CONS:

- None really.

star50 tpng hd monitor on computer?Great Screen
By Joshua Cohoe
Pros: I bought three of these to use in eyefinity mode with my new Radeon 6990. They have a fantastic crisp picture and work fantastically in eyefinity mode. Shipping was extremely fast. The stands seem to be a little unstable if the screens are bumped but when left alone the screen don’t move (the screens aren’t supposed to be bumped so I don’t see this as a con. I checked all three of the screens for dead pixels upon receipt of which I could find none. I have had the screens for about a month and a half now without any problems.

Cons: None.

Computer Specs.
Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4 GHz
Maximus IV GENE-Z Motherboard
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Diamond AMD ATI Radeon HD 6990 Graphics card

star40 tpng hd monitor on computer?Very Good for the Price
By H. Michael Siesel
I’m a photographer and web developer and my flat screen was dying so I research this and other monitors before buying.

My photo work is still done on reference CRT. I was tempted by the new IPS panels but decent quality model with GOOD ratings cost ~$500. There’s two types of IPS panels. Some provide 8 bit per channel color, and others 6 bit with interpolation that tricks the eye into seeing more colors that aren’t really there. I’ll wait.

Since I have a Spyder I calibrated this monitor and it looks pretty good, though it blows out the highlights. But compared to the dynamic range of my DSLR it appears to cover the entire shadow range. There is a bar along the left side where it’s leaking light. Not sure if this is a design flaw or a bad fit.

One point of confusion: It has a VGA, a DVI, and a HDMI port on the back. But when I plugged in the DVI the monitor starting blinking. So I switched to the VGA port and it works fine. On the ASUS website it states: DVI-D (via HDMI-to-DVI cable). So why put a DVI connector on the back? Also the instructions in the box are next to useless.

Altogether: 4 stars.

For what it is and what it costs it’s a pretty nice panel. I’ll be using it primarily for web work, surfing and writing. If that’s within your needs you should be happy with it.

Try adjusting the video card settings. Nvidia has the nvidia control panel and ati has the catalyst panel.
