A few days ago, while watching a movie on my xbox 360, the picture became distorted (it made a live action movie look a bit like the movie In a Scanner Darkly). A few days later, the xbox turns on, but I am no longer getting a picture on my tv. I can still hear the sound through the surround sound speakers, but the tv itself only shows a black screen. I called xbox and they suggested that it was a cable problem. I bought new cables, but no luck! I also bought VGA cables. The VGA cable works for a minute or two, then the picture becomes distorted and the picture goes black, then it says “not compatible” then it goes black again. The same plug on my tv works just fine with my computer, but I am told that this is perhaps because the computer has a different refresh setting than the xbox 360. I can hook up my old xbox to the tv & it works fine (but it uses an older style cable).

As you can see, I am quite frustrated by this whole mess. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated
I called Microsoft twice over the time period and they don’t seem to know what the problem could be.

I would call microsoft with the porblem, they recently extended the waranties on all xbox 360′s, so you should still be covered.

You have two variables here your TV and the Xbox try hooking up the Xbox to a different TV. If that works then you know it’s the TV and not the Xbox.
