I am currently running my PS3 via HDMI (ps3) to DVI (hd hd monitor).

Would I be able to do the same with a cable box that has HDMI output?
My hd hd monitor is 720p and I get 720p output on all games/blu-ray and it says it’s HDCP ready on the box.

Yes, you can. Whether or not you can actually watch programs in HD is another question.

If the hd hd monitor is not HDCP-compliant, you might not be able to watch HD channels at full broadcast HD resolution (1080i, which is 1280×720).

Were you able to play back blu-ray discs on your PS3 at full 1080p resolution (1920×1080) on your hd hd monitor? If you can, then your hd hd monitor is HDCP-compliant and you should be able to watch HD cable programming.

Good luck.

Sure can, just need another HDMI cable and input, if only one input, then you will need to swap them as you go. Pain in the rear.
